Oue Middle School has a STEM course, but no curriculum or materials to work with, aside from online sources. I am looking for manipulatives and hands-on materials for engaging STEM activities. The students have shown special interest in bridge building and robotics and coding.The bridge materials will be used to explain structural engineering and integrity in designing, building, modifying, and manipulating bridges. The straws will be used in various projects, but most notably in designing and building various kites and structures. The robots will help in their understanding of robotics and coding, and artificial intelligence. It is my goal that throughout the course of this year, the students will have a deeper respect for the areas of applied science and mathematics.
