This reading program is a research-based program for students that have learning disabilities. With this program, students that struggle deeply with reading are transformed into successful readers. This program introduces students to many different genres, it seamlessly integrates comprehension, implements higher-order comprehension skills along with practicing fluency. In addition, students practice writing, which allows them to mature into well-rounded readers as well as writers. This program features scaffolded lessons to phonics, vocabulary, word analysis, word building and decoding. Students are provided with writing opportunities through the write and read workbooks along with fluency activities and assessments that are integrated into each unit.
As a teacher in Providence, my resources are limited. I do not have a reading program to follow and my students would truly benefit greatly from this program. I have students in the third grade reading at a PreK level; these students need this program to teach them how to read and become successful now and in the future years to come.
