Creating a leveled library in my classroom will encourage students to read and to provide them with the ability to read books that are on their independent and guided reading levels. Creating a leveled library will help them feel successful as they are able to read books that are more appropriate for where they are at with their individual reading skills. Many of the books that I currently have were collected from others that had books they were willing to giveaway. Many of the books are well above many of my students reading abilities and they struggle with trying to find books where they are able to feel success in reading.
This project will help my students find success with building their oral reading fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension skills. We will be able to choose books that are more appropriate for their reading levels and work on setting reading goals during reading conferences that they will be able to work on during classwork time and as part of their daily reading homework. Having books on appropriate levels will help them to feel successful in accomplishing the goals that we set together.
