When using the PECS pictures, each student in the classroom receives a small 3 ring binder that we refer to as their communication book. Each book is individualized with pictures of items that the students prefer and want. For examples foods and toys of choice. I recently purchased a software system called Boardmaker that allows me to print pictures or down load from the internet which would apply to the books. Each student is working on a specific phase of the book and the goal is for them to use the book as their voice if they are unable to communicate verbally. Our classroom uses the pictures to label items and to teach skills in whole and small groups.
