826LA invites classes to participate in completely free, writing-based field trips. Our field trips offer a fun and safe space for students to express their imaginations and practice their writing skills. Supported by our volunteers, students work collaboratively while brainstorming, writing, and editing an original work.
At the end of a field trip students leave with something tangible—a bound book or revised essay—and confidence in their ability to write, create, and inspire. Our students will be participating in 826LA's Small Group Storytelling field trip. In this Field Trip, students are invited to the 826LA writing lab as guest authors for the day. Students work in small groups and with our volunteers to create an original story from start to finish – constructing characters, finding a setting, and planning a plot suitable for all ages. Each group’s story will be published, and every student will leave with their own copy of their book to share with family and friends.
