Our scholars spend so much of the day developing their identities as readers, writers and mathematicians. They know the classroom is a resource for them to utilize to reach their fullest potential. Our classroom is an ICT classroom, where students are participate in parallel stations in the classroom for reading, writing and math while also receiving small group, individualized instruction based on their specific needs.
We use technology to provide instruction that is accessible to all of our students and their varied learning styles. Using technology for parallel taught stations allows us to provide visuals and videos to supplement lessons throughout the day across all subjects. Having a wall mount for the projector at one station will make space for flexible seating where students can set themselves up for work independently, or with a partner or small group. I want to empower our students with different choices in their learning environments, and foster a classroom that encourages collaboration and creativity. Flexible seating options will allow them to do so, while also increasing their comfort in our classroom, where they spend much of their week.
