First year students get to see how areas, volumes, and statistics are actually applied in engineering. Consequently, several activities require a lot of engineering calculations. Some of my economically disadvantaged students may not always have a scientific calculator handy. I would like a class set so that all students will have access to that resource. An essential part of being a good architect is being able to sketch. The sketch pads I saw would be perfect for enabling my Civil Engineering/Architecture students to spend time outside of the classroom and practice their two point perspective on building structures around the campus.
