My school is building a sensory room to help students take a break in a safe and calm environment, away from other distractions within the classroom. This room will be utilized when students become frustrated or upset during the day. This will help my students with sensory processing differences. Our school is building a sensory room, filling it with materials to support their tactile, auditory, and visual sensory needs. These items will help my students take a needed break to help them remain safe and focused during the school day.
Most of my students have intense sensory processing differences that can make learning very difficult for them at times. When children have intense sensory needs, it can be difficult for them to focus on anything except getting that sensory input they are seeking. This can make learning difficult for them as well as their classmates.
