As a school counselor, my job is to provide these students with the support and tools they need to be successful at school. Most kids in today's world, and definitely at my small school, come to school with the odds already stacked against them.
I was able to give a "Student Needs" assessment. The number one issue facing these students is "Dealing with Stress and Anxiety".
Any resource I can provide to leave this school better than I found it is my ultimate goal. I am only guaranteed a year at this location and want to make sure that if another school counselor takes my place, they have a great starting point to continue to better the lives of these students.
By providing an office chair, rugs, group curriculum, personal workbooks, and sensory items, you are contributing to the creation of a warm, inviting and friendly space where students have the resources to help them work through the issues they may be facing.
