Algebra tiles will help to show a visual representation of equations. They will be able to actually see x values and constants. They will be able to notice the opposites (positive and negative) using different colors tiles. We can also use the balance to see how both sides of the equation need to "balanced" in order to stay leveled. These materials will help all of my students, but especially my students who struggle with solving equations. The hands on access will provide a gateway into solving equations that we did not have before.
