We have the healing area in the classroom set up, but the floor is hard and the students don't have a comfortable place to sit or lie down. Because of this, students are not utilizing the area to its full potential. We also plan to use the mats for guided meditation groups to further work on healing these resilient, yet traumatized and dysregulated brains. Students who have experienced trauma have difficulties with emotional regulation and benefit from a peaceful and comfortable setting. In this healing corner, students can calm themselves and when they are ready, return to the classroom setting. Emotionally regulated students are ready to learn!
