The use of microscopes is a fantastic and engaging tool used in biology. We use them throughout the year for the study of cell structure and function, cell division, osmosis and pond water analysis. Unfortunately, most of our students have never used a microscope and struggle to understand what they are viewing, even when I point it out on their microscope. This leads to frustration and feelings of failure for some of our students.
This computer compatible microscope will enable me to show students what they should be seeing on their microscopes and, in addition, will help them develop observational and critical thinking skills. My students will be able to focus on learning about what they are seeing and not struggling with whether or not what they are viewing is correct. This will give them confidence in their abilities and will facilitate the learning process to take place.
