This rug and inviting chairs will provide a child friendly place for students to gather and read in the presence of other readers. Like being in a book store or coffee shop, the environment is welcoming and relaxed making my students want to linger and read on.
As readers gather together, they share their thinking, deepen their comprehension, and feel inspired. We will hold literature circle discussions here, discussing a common text, like an adult book club. At other times, it will provide a peaceful area to study and read independently.
Furthermore, this space will allow students the opportunity of movement away from their usual desk seat, stretch their legs, and change their perspective on their surroundings.
