I hope to start an amateur radio club at our high school through introducing the topic in our teacher advisory and then holding training sessions to help get students licensed. They will learn about the electronics and electromagnetic wave implications of communication. They will learn how local communication can be used to serve the community in emergency and non-emergency conditions. The 2 meter Kenwood mobile radio and antenna can be used to boost the power of communications to connect to local repeaters. The handheld Baofeng radios will be a good start for teaching our students how to effectively communicate using simplex to stay in contact with each other in line of site communication. All of these radios as they learn to get their FCC Technicians license.
