These sight word readers will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create, and their personal book pouches and seat sacks will allow my kids to organize their materials for classroom and at home use.
My classroom is a place of encouragement and taking ownership of one’s learning. My kids love to read, and always feel so confident when they master a new word or book. They love mastering new sight words too, so to be able to do both at the same time is icing on the cake! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and the students are thankful for the opportunities to read. Furthermore, any opportunity to read- whether at home or in school, is highly encouraged. The students’ personal book bags give the students a chance to showcase their hard work to their families, and their seat sacks give kids the reward of having their sight word readers handy at their tables if they finish their work early.
With these new sight word readers, personal book pouches, and seat sacks, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books on their grade level. They will also be able to practice their sight words while keeping the books organized for class and at home use.
The best way to increase reading ability and sight word recognition is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will allow them to take learning into their own hands by encouraging them to feel confident when they read, and organized when the inspiration hits outside of station reading time.
