If you have ever been part of a wrestling team (Athlete, Coach, Parent, or Supporter), you know what kind of discipline and other benefits come with the experience.
Sports such as wrestling provide great lessons of strength, teamwork, and discipline that complement academics in all sorts of ways. Even a wrestler who loses every match the whole season is a tough kid just for participating.
The extra wrestling shoes and headgear purchased through this proposal will go to under privileged youth (grades 4-8) who might not have been able to purchase the gear because their parents would not or could not do so.
Some kids will be able to ask their parents for headgear and shoes but it will be nice to have some on hand for those who could not afford it. If we have to, we could even take turns with the headgear but it would be best if we got a pair for every individual to protect their ears during practice.
Above all, we really need a good mat for the most obvious reason of protecting each athlete. We cannot wrestle without it.
Thank you for supporting our wrestling program! Every dollar counts!
