Research has shown that travel increases gains in academic content knowledge. Traveling while young, of course while fun, is also an important investment to enhance a student’s academic performance in the future.
I will be taking a group of students from KCMO Central Middle School to Washington, D.C. for a 3-day wonderful learning experience where they will get to tour our nation's capital. We will visit places such as the African American History Museum, Washington Monument, World War II Museum, MLK Memorial, etc. Learning about history in person will help them to know where they came from so they will have a better idea of where they are going in life.
The families at my school are low-income but they know the importance of experiences like this. Many of the families would like to send their students but can't afford to do so. I am hoping that I can get some donors to sponsor at least 5 students for this history-lesson-in-person trip It is very important for us to not have to leave any child behind.
