I teach agriculture at the middle school level and having animals in the classroom is a must! Kids learn so much better when they are able to see, touch, and care for the animals. I have a bunny, two Guinea pigs, and two chickens. One of the Guinea pig's cage is falling apart and getting worse with each time the children clean the cages. My students are responsible for their care and would greatly benefit from having a better cage. My students will also gain experience in showing the animals at the county fair.
My students are also going to be learning about farming as we will be planting a memorial garden. Each of my classes will also be building their own raised beds filled with vegetables, gloves, and tools that are needed to help them be able to do it and keep them safe!
