The sensory materials selected for this project will benefit many students here at my school. We have a variety of students who have been diagnosed with ADHD as well as students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The headphones will provide the students with being able to cancel out excess noise that is distracting or overwhelming.
By using headphones as a type of assistive technology, they are able to complete classwork assignments, work on projects, and work on the computer.
The wiggle seats give the students the sensory input as well as getting some movement in class while working without disrupting others.
The other items selected will be made into sensory kits for classroom teachers to use as a tool to help their students when they need a break from their work and use the materials in the sensory box to help get their day back on track and keep calm.
