Engagement is a key factor in effective learning in the classroom! It is proven that students are much more engaged in a holistic, interdisciplinary classroom. With these materials, my students will have the opportunity to experience STEM in the classroom to enrich their learning experience and further their love for learning! They will also have opportunities for self management of emotions and their own mental health.
In today's world, STEM and SEL are so important for future success!
My students will use these SEL materials (books and flexible seating) to self regulate in the classroom. Being able to choose a seating option that will better help them learn is very important. Also, having quality literature about mental health will help my students identify and regulate their emotions. The STEM materials (math games, building materials) will be incorporated in this area for students to be able to focus their energy and emotions into things that are positive all while growing their brain by solving engineering and math problems that will give them an edge in society in the long run.
