Flexible seating options can be an amazing addition to any classroom. Our classroom space is limited and at times can feel overcrowded. With flexible seating options the space in our classroom can become more organized and space can be maximized. Most classrooms have everyone at a designated table spot and with alternative seating options students are able to choose a space that works best for them and their needs. As of right now students in my classroom are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, sitting or laying on the floor with a clip board or working in our "library area" with pillows I have purchased myself. I have already noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating and would love to give them more!
Students love having a choice in their learning, even when it comes to where they want to sit. Being able to choose from wobble chairs, crate seats, scoop rocking chairs and donut exercise balls will give students the feeling of empowerment by having control over their environment. I want my students to have a feeling of a united community by working together to share supplies and take ownership in their own learning. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices in their day.
In today's classroom we are faced with active and diverse learners with rigor and high academic expectations. It is motivating for students to make choices and take responsibility for their learning. I feel that alternative seating options would positively affect my students by helping them be comfortably engaged in their learning!
