At my school, we have the opportunity to give our students a double dose of reading. The programs is called WIN. It is 40 minutes of literacy circles based on ability.
Frontier started the WIN program last year and we have increased reading levels in some students by 2 to 3 grades. The program WIN, What I Need, is a focus of just that, what each individual student needs.
The group of students that will be reading the Devil's Arithmetic are 5th and 6th graders that require advanced reading challenges to allow for individual critical thinking. This book will stretch their abilities all while giving them a look into one of the "world's most historic events," the holocaust.
