Our Hear Myself Sound Phones will be used daily by every student in class during our guided reading rotations which happen every day for an hour before lunch. These phones will help students increase their reading skills by allowing them the ability not only to hear themselves as they read but also allow them to not be distracted by the friend reading next to them. This will allow them to scaffold their learning as they go from reading to themselves by sounding words out, to self-correcting, and eventually silent reading and reading for meaning.
We will be using Hear Myself Sound Phones every day in two of our four guided reading rotations. Our class would be using these phones with the lead teacher, myself, during guided reading, on their own during independent reading, and occasionally while practicing new skills at their phonics rotation.
