Music education is something that can truly enhance the mind of any learner--especially children. However, true learning in the music room is sometimes lost due to issues such as student disengagement, lack of student concern for the content area, and lack of relativity the student feels the music is to them. My goal with this project is to provide my students with a musical experience that they will love, that will allow them to learn music, and how to explore their own musical identities through an instrument that is extremely practical to their lives--the ukulele. This project will teach my students core musical concepts through performance, and will also provide them with a skill that they can use for the rest of their lives. This approach is fun, engaging, and collaborative, and will allow the students themselves to see, hear, and feel their own improvement.
