Social-emotional needs are at an all-time high, and my district has recognized this and hired a new school counselor - ME! - to help our students more fully. This is my first year as a school counselor, and I am working on building my library of books that will help children with their feelings, emotions, difficulties, etc. These books will help children learn about their different emotions, handle their big feelings, and learn that they're not alone in their social-emotional needs. I hope that my soon-to-be library of social-emotional books will be a place where students can check out books that they need at the moment and/or listen to me read during small and large group lessons. I hope that these books will help children grow their emotional IQ and be better suited to calm themselves, exhibit less worry, accept their differences, etc. As William Feather said, "Books open your mind, broaden your mind, and strengthen you as nothing else can."
