I am a first year teacher looking at growing the use of technology in my classroom and on my campus. Currently my students are using the 3 iPads that we share as a class to use applications called Class Dojo for documenting their learning to share with me and to share with their families. For example, currently students can record themselves reading a book through this application and then post to this app. At that point, I am able to review it and post so that families can view from home. Students are also able to take pictures of their work and record their learning. This application is also used for the students and I to track behavior management with positive reinforcement. Another way that we use the technology is through a system called DreamBox. This online system works seamlessly on the iPads. This is a system that tracks students individualized math goals and builds upon their knowledge all through fun games and activities. The students love this and I am able to track their learning and set math goals for them to work on.
With the 2 extra iPads, the students would be able to become even bigger leaders of their learning. With the added resources, students will be able to have access to the technology more often throughout the day.
Being a first year teacher, I am very excited for the endless possibilities that this year has in store for me and my students. These 2 iPads would bring even more opportunities to the table that I cannot wait to explore.
