My students will benefit from having the necessary school supplies that they need to create their reading and writing interactive notebooks. These notebooks enhance their learning experience and provide them with hands-on activities for learning to read and write.
The 4th grade Florida State Assessment in English Language Arts is extremely rigorous and utilizing an interactive notebook to learn engages even the most struggling learner. In my school the students come from low income families and do not come to school with all the necessary supplies.
Interactive reading and writing notebooks are a research based strategy that is proven to show a high correlation of success on high stakes assessments. It is difficult to meet these goals when your students are not prepared and cannot afford the supplies.
