My teaching style plays heavily on physical movement, interaction, and engagement. When I am stuck to the desk or the Smartboard, my assistance is limited. An iPad will allow me to keep the lesson moving seamlessly without sacrificing 1 on 1 help or circulating the room.
For an effective Foreign Language class, I will need tools to help me engage my students in more communication. I plan for students to display their work through the camera, highlight texts as they read, research cultural practices/ perspectives, and engage in video-chats with native Spanish speakers. With an iPad, students in wheelchairs or with physical limitations can still participate in interactive games (racing to touch the correct image, or writing their response to a prompt for the class to see). While others work, students that are holding the iPad may "anonymously" answer the questions, conjugate verbs, annotate texts, or write their questions or doubts about the lessons without the anxiety of other peers watching.
