Social emotional learning has become an integral part of education. Meditation has been shown to increase levels of happiness, increase memory and attention. People who meditate, practice mindfulness and yoga are generally more in tune with their bodies and emotional needs. I've had to learn coping skills and strategies as an adult. What a gift to be able to share my learning and passion for meditation with my students.
The goal is for my students to be able to take their experiences with meditation home; hopefully to create a space for mindfulness, communication and self care within their family.
The time's we've meditated together thus far have been powerful. Students have written about how they feel both immediately after meditating and then at the end of the day. The reported feeling more relaxed, happier, warmer, a decrease in anxiety and more alert. Many have shared that they've started meditating at home and have taught their family about mindful moments as well.
