The benefits of reading to young children have been proven time and time again. I want invite several local authors to our classroom for story time and provide students with a copy of each book to build their very own home libraries.
Literacy-rich environments stimulate students by providing them opportunities to see and interact with print. This initiative will make quality content within the home, accessible to all of my students.
The authors chosen have artfully crafted meaningful stories with messages relevant to my students. The book, "There's A Creature In My Belly," by Jared R. Green follows the journey of a young boy who uses his imagination to find his passion and purpose in life. This book aims to help kids find the greatness that's already inside of them.
Lily Frog: The Love of Pre-K, by Ashleigh Grandpre captures the joy of Lily's first day. As the story unfolds, students are introduced to routines, expectations, and activities that are apart of the Preschool day.
Children who are immersed in print-rich environments as young children, tend to be more successful as they progress through school. These benefits should not be hindered by a families economic ability to provide students with the resources necessary to nurture that environment.
