I want my students to be able to read this novel because it is a strong model of what it looks like to be a person for social justice. All of my students are part of a minority group preparing to move on to the real world. This novel will help the students to understand some of the struggles they will face, and what it takes to overcome, and even more, fight back against these struggles. This project will help my students become strong, able, and passionate leaders equip with the tools to use their voices and take up space in their world.

About my class
