The Center for Educational Excellence in Alternative Settings is sponsoring a year long initiative called "Spark. Grow. Unite." The monthly activities are designed to give students the chance to express themselves through writing, art and music. They explore, robotics, engineering, and literature and have the chance to share their ideas and creations with others.
One of those activities involves computer programming. With the Spheros and tablets my students will be able to explore the world of coding in a real, hands on way. They will begin programming the robots to run races and have battles and will progress to writing computer programs and seeing their own ideas come to life.
The pens will allow my artistic students to express themselves through their drawing and watch it become a tangible object. They will be used for hands on learning in math and language arts will all learners but will be particularly helpful for those who need hands on objects in order to learn.
