The materials in the project will increase student's engagement in their learning immensely. The products I have selected for GLOW day will transform our classroom into a one of a kind experience for students. Black lights and disco balls will light the room and students will spend the day reviewing math concepts, reading in the dark, and playing games with one another after answering a math question. I will also keep these supplies on hand for other teachers in my school to have their own GLOW day in the classroom! Students will never forget how much fun they had learning on GLOW Day!
The integration of art, science, technology, and black lights will be sure to capture any student's curiosity. STEM supplies will also be another way in which this project will help fund. Students have various challenges to build and work as a team using these materials. I will have my students reflect on their creation, and tie in a writing piece as to what challenge their structure may solve.
Lastly, this project will fund adding a collection of books related to kindness, grit, courage, and leadership. Students will not only learn how to be better students, but will learn how to be a better person.
