In the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic, our students are still expected to perform well on their Geometry End of Course Exam (EOC). The end of course exam is a graduation requirement in Florida, thus, without this test our students will not graduate. With the median household income at over $21,000, our students need a high school diploma in order to open new avenues and opportunities and transcend socio-economic classes. I have collected data throughout my of years teaching and have found that the difference between low performers and high performers can be attributed to a lack of preparation and testing on an empty stomach. As a teacher it is impossible for me to feed an entire grade level of students, which is why I am asking for your financial support.
It is unfair for us to expect students to perform well without the nutrients needed to fuel their success. With the EOC exam, lunch is not given until the end of the test, thus, if students do not eat breakfast, hunger becomes a big distraction. Your funding will go toward a mini breakfast consisting of granola bars and juice and a mid-test snack. This will go towards all students online and physical as they will be coming in for testing.
