I teach a truly awesome bunch of junior high kids who have learning disabilities. We are struggling though with focus and attention stemming from their disabilities and their teenage years so that charging station would be a PHENOMENAL addition to my classroom to help with that focus as charging their phones is a HUGE thing for them.
As my students are all in 8th and 9th grade, with low reading levels of 1st-6th grade, I want them to have access to books that are at their interest level but are at their reading level. I would like my students to have access to high-low books that they can read on their own to then be captivated by books.
Another aspect of my project is that of handwriting. My students are not confident in reading or writing, but they are comfortable in the special education classrooms that they are in. I want them to be confident so that they can set their worries aside from being embarrassed by their writing or reading. And this can only be accomplished through practice. So the practice handwriting books are really going to be beneficial.
Thank you so, so much for your help with this. All my students are going to be affected by your contribution.
