I am looking to provide functional communication systems for my children. I will be making binders for my students that provide pictures for the nonverbal students to use that identify what they are needing or wanting.
These systems will take the guesswork out of being a teacher or caretaker! The pictures that I will use provide a variety of easily identifiable symbols that show basic human needs and wants. The pictures are attached to the dividers inside the binders using hook and eye pieces. The children identify the desired picture, pull it out of their binder and give it to their teacher/caretaker. These binders will stay with the student throughout their school years and then out in the real world.
