We are requesting ten Chromebooks to provide an outlet for expression as well as to prepare for the future by learning life skills such as filling out job applications. By placing Chromebooks into the hands of my students, they will be able to access parts of the curriculum that typical students are able to access. My students will need extra time to search the internet, type things such as their name and address, sentences or projects and fill out applications. When borrowing these Chromebooks from the library, we are only able to keep them for a short amount of time.
My students would be so excited to have this technology at their fingertips! We would be able to complete class projects and use programs like Nearpod that is available to our school. Nearpod will allow me as the teacher to create class assignments and send them to the students. With these chromebooks, we could then complete these activities together as a class. Having these chromebooks would also allow non-readers or lower readers to go on the internet, find information and then have it read aloud to them.
I think this would also help some of my students excel and learn to fill out applications for future employment. This is a huge deal for them as all they talk about doing after high school is getting a job! They want to be a contributing member of society.
Thank you for helping me help my students!
