My students love anime and manga. These texts will be used to compare and contrast anime and manga of the same series. We will also be using these texts to develop reading skills that match statewide standards. I have never had a student refuse to read a manga text. Many of my students are English Language Learners therefore the panels (the pictures) of manga provide support for students to develop their language skills. My students are creative, compassionate and when given their personal methods of learning my students will grow. Manga is one of the many engaging tools my students love to use.
