My students are great 6th graders in middle school coming from a lower socio-economic background. Most of them are eager to learn but sometimes lack focus due to outside distractions that I nor do they have any control over. Some of them come to middle school with a certain mind set hating Math or Science so I have to be creative. Many of them have already changed that mindset due to the way I teach Math and Science. In my third, 4th and 5th period class I have 28 students who are below grade level. Although many need to receive special education services only 8 have been identified and about 15 /26 have extremely short attention spans and about 6 lack discipline. Imagine a day as a teacher or a student. My students are in 6th grade, some are reading at 1st and 2nd grade level and many at 3rd and 4th. The majority of their math levels are 3rd grade and a few below. Creativity and Engagement is inevitable.
