Our school is on the outskirts of West Texas miles away from the city. That is why many students in my classroom spend over one hour by bus in coming to school. A large number of them have also difficulties completing practice assignments at home because of lack of supplies and resources.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, despite the resources and environment in which they learn can be improved. Their learning is based on the variety of learning strategies, cooperative work and critical and entrepreneurial spirit. They have become an incredible group which makes me feel thankful and rewarded working with them.
Due to the lack of technological resources that my students find in classroom and their houses, they can not search information through websites nor share their ideas and projects.
In addition two of my students have hearing problems and are speech impaired. Despite making a big effort to follow the class, they need continuous visual and listening support to cover their needs.
It is why I ask for a computer with earphones which will facilitate the learning of language, phonetic sounds and critical thinking through the use ICTs and specific interactive resources appropriate for them.
My students with hearing problems need to supplement the auditive message with other additional visual and tactile stimuli. In order to create special worksheets and durable materials that they can manipulate, a laminator with plenty of sheets is necessary.
