The rug is an essential part of our classroom. This is where we have our morning meetings, do small groups, and work on some centers. The rug we have now is not big enough for all of my students and I do not like students being left out on the carpet. We are a family and I want all of my students to feel included on the rug.
The mailboxes will make the students feel like this is their classroom, where they belong! They can "check their mail" at the end of the day. This is where I can put flyers, graded papers, notes, and anything important that needs to go home! Giving them the job of checking their mail will also give them something to be responsible for, building their independence.
The classroom laminator will be a wonderful addition. It will allow me to laminate their work, pictures, and seasonal decorations to make the classroom feel homey and safe. I want them to come in and see their work and pictures hanging on the walls and know that this is where they belong.
