Integrating the ukulele in my classroom will give students another avenue to express themselves in music as well as give them an opportunity for differentiated learning. In my classroom students will have the opportunity to learn how to play the ukulele as part of my curriculum. Having a class set of ukuleles will allow students to have a one-on-one, hands-on experience to music. This will also allow for me to offer another extracurricular ensemble that will foster a learning environment for children to pursue their musical abilities and establish lifelong love for learning. My vision is to start teaching students ukulele at the end of their fourth grade year, and continue this in the fifth grade. I would love to be able to have a school-wide holiday sing-a-long and have my fifth grade students accompany the student body on Orff instruments and ukuleles. This project will be able to service at least a decade of students in the fourth and fifth grade at our campus.
