When students arrive to our classroom, they participate in "morning tubs" which include activities that will encourage complex thinking as we build and create projects using STEM materials. Morning tubs are an alternative to morning work and provide many outlets for exploration that pencil and paper cannot provide.
Morning tubs provide students with the flexibility to take chances, try and fail and try again to succeed. Morning tubs promote a positive classroom environment and encourage students to collaborate and socialize with their peers while working on tasks that are appealing to them. Believe it or not, play is a foundational skill for young children and is vital for future interactions later in the world. Morning tubs provide students with the chance to create, build, imagine and laugh with their peers.
We have been piloting morning tubs for the first month of school, and my students are enjoying the opportunity, freedom and creativity that morning tubs have provided them. Unfortunately, we are very limited in the supplies available for our morning tubs and are looking for community support in order to continue our exploration and creativity. Please consider donating to our morning tub fund so that we can continue to enjoy the flexibility and freedom that morning tubs have provided us.
Thank you!
