The materials and supplies for this project will allow my Advanced Placement students to take their creativity to new heights. My students already know how to create artwork using the batik process; they just need to proper tools to be successful. Batik is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth. Batik is made either by drawing dots and lines of the resist with a spouted tool called a tjanting. My goal is to provide them with the necessary means to increase the quality of their batiks. By donating to our project you will be helping my Advanced Placement students to improve upon their craft with the batik process. I am very excited to have students who have been dedicated enough to learn this fabric dyeing process. It is very time consuming, but rewarding at the same time. These students are endeavoring to create college-level work from their high school art room.
