Today's students are all online, using social media, and learning more than ever by interacting with digital technology. There are many excellent learning apps, games, and simulators that I love to use in my classroom, but with my current resources, my students can't all use laptops in small groups.
With this project fulfilled, I'll have several laptops in my classroom full-time and my students will always have access. They'll be able to play review games on Quizziz and Kahoot, create PowerPoint presentations for their research projects, practice coding, and complete simulated labs on Explore Learning that we can't achieve in a classroom setting, like tracking and comparing weather and climate at different parts of the world or tracking the biodiversity of a particular habitat over several years.
With more laptops, I'll be able to place them in smaller groups so they can work semi-independently, and in this way more students will be engaged. This will improve their learning and boost their confidence in the practice of science in the classroom.
