In my classroom, all students have their own iPads. Flexible seating allows my students to be mobile so they can collaborate and create projects in a less restrictive environment; this cannot happen when students are sitting in rows. Flexible seating teaches them lessons in social skills, how to make good choices, and the importance of collaboration.
Giving students a choice in seating and classroom arrangement gives them a sense of ownership and elevates student engagement. Having furniture allows us to easily rearrange the room to promote collaboration and critical thinking. I want to offer a variety of seating options to meet the needs of different learning styles so all students can feel successful.
