A flexible seating classroom is one in which traditional seating charts are replaced with seating arrangements that allow the students to seat where they choose. One of its principal objectives is to reduce the number/duration of sedentary periods of time, which research has identified as a danger to health.
My second graders are learning to be more independent. Choosing their seating assists them in making good choices. Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused, and productive. There is no better way to show your support for a student-centered classroom, than creating a classroom from a child's point of view.
Thank you for your time.
