Chapter books are exciting for second graders! However, a chapter book with pages filled with words is a daunting and scary sight for a struggling reader. Graphic novels remove barriers by providing pictures to support readers. Readers can read the pictures to read the book and can use the pictures as context clues to decode the text. Graphic novels are motivating, new, and exciting for students! Graphic novels grab students' attention with captivating illustrations and are appealing due to their unique layout. The book boxes will be used so that each student has their own box to store the books that they borrow from the classroom library.
