This year my school was selected to participate in a special Art and technology program that is geared towards bringing technology into the art room! It's a great opportunity for me as an educator to learn new skills and for my students to experiment using technology to make artwork. The program which comes to our school for one day a week, for a nine-week period, will be using a class set of Ipads to explore these technologies. They will be making art using apps for coding, painting, and drawing using a stylus. When the program leaves, sadly, they take their Ipads with them and my class is left without a means of implementing this exciting new information. I am requesting an iPad and stylus to keep in the classroom and use for special assignments that require its use. We'll also be able to enter into some of the district-wide competitions which require the use of technology to make art.
Art drying racks are an essential part of an art classroom! I've requested two drying racks so that my students can paint and have a safe place to put their work to dry. Without this essential tool its nearly impossible to have students make paintings and prevent them from being damaged or ruined in the drying process. I value their artwork as much, if not more than my students and it's important to me that they are dried properly and kept safe until they can be stacked and put away without any damage to the paintings.
