My goal is to engage my students through visuals. Students are more apt to learn new vocabulary if they are able the connect to a visual. In this notebook they will keep different pictures they have created or researched to acquire new language. Project-based learning, particularly, helps to support English language learners because it adds a hands-on, engaging connection to enhance the learning experience. By creating a graphic representation, the students can use the visual to connect to new vocabulary words to gain a better understanding. In class, we also want to bridge prior knowledge of their first language to support the acquisition of their newest language.
